Sonya sent me a few pictures she had taken from last weekend
Left to right Zen, Amy, David and Sonja , they had just filled the trailer with leaves
Unloading leaves in the field
Sonja testing the zip line. We want it safe for when you get here.
Amy Zen Sonja Jennifer Larry and Eric. Enjoying the fire before the cold weather slid in. We are hoping for rain on Thursday evening, which we need badly. We have a burn pile that just keeps getting bigger. Maybe next week we can light it.

Some workers came

Some folks came to work this weekend. We found a few items to work on that were not on the to do list but needed to be done.
The rafters on the pole barn had some dry rot and needed to be trimmed back. Sonya and Erik worked on this.
Then they put some primer on the ends.

Amy, Zen and Jennifer applied a coat of white paint to the picket fence. We have wanted to do this since we started at Whisper Canyon. It looks very good. What I did not get pictures of is the tree trimmings and leaves that were picked up. Sonya and her friend David 8 or 10 trailer loads of branches to our burn pile on Friday. On Saturday they were joined by Amy and Zen getting about 3 trailer loads of leaves pulled out from behind the bath house. All of which helps reduce the fire load here at camp.
Erick stayed over to Monday and helped me get the sickle mower up and running. We ran it behind the caretakers unit and it is a weed chomping machine. He also help adjust the cabin step. It has always been tilted and prone to wobble.

We put down a layer of rock and added some 4x4 and to the underside. We think this set up will hold up a for a while. It is always a great time being able to share the camp with folks wishing to bring some improvements and watching them enjoy the place.

Vespers, 1-5-12

Thursday nights Saint Luke's Episcopal church has been hosting a pot luck meal prior to to evening vespers. We have been able to attend a few times
It is not a large group, maybe 18 folks have been attending. It is a time of easy conversation.
Robert the vicar is asking the blessing on the meal.
This week was the epiphany service, the 12th day after Christmas. During the service the Vicar prayed a blessing on Jewel who is in here mid 80's and heading back to Oklahoma to be married.Another sweet time with new friends.
